In case the plugin isn't able to modify the file containing the root Vue instance:

Import the provider:

import { createProvider } from './vue-apollo'

Then in the root instance, set the apolloProvider option:

new Vue({
  el: '#app',
  // Add this line
  apolloProvider: createProvider(),
})
